Group Swimming
Fall Session Dates: September 6, 2022 – November 12, 2022.
If this group swim session doesn’t fit your schedule, we plan to offer another session starting on November 15, 2022.
EAC has other instructors that offer private and semi-private lessons. You can call EAC directly (773-262-2455) to get that process started.
Registration has begun on Tuesday, July 5 at 8am and ends on Saturday, August 27 12 at 2pm.
EAC’s hours:
Sundays 6am – 7pm
Weekdays 5:30am – 10pm
Saturdays 6:00am – 7pm
Because we need you to sign our waiver, we prefer that you register in person at EAC. We expect classes (especially Level 1) to fill up, so it’s always best to register sooner rather than later. Since learning to swim usually takes more than one 10 week session, we allow the swimmers already in our program to sign up earlier than new swimmers. This means that there could be limited spots in the class you want and for popular classes, there might not be any spots available. If the class you want is full, we do offer a waiting list. We are usually able to find classes for the first few swimmers on the waiting list. This will be done during the last few days of the registration period and everyone on the waiting list will be contacted about a class time or about a refund.
How to Choose the Appropriate Class
Children 4 years old and up: To qualify for Level 2, swimmers need to be able to jump into the deep end, turn on their back, and kick across the pool (20 yards) without any help from a teacher or a kick board. They also need to be comfortable jumping into the deep end and kicking across the pool on their front using a kick board. The teachers are not in the pool for Levels 2 – 5. If your child cannot perform these skills, please sign up for Level 1. If your child can perform these skills, sign up for Level 2. If your child can do more than these skills, email as much information as possible to swimwithus2007@gmail.com to discuss the appropriate level.
Adults 16 and up: You are considered a beginner if you cannot cross the deep end of the pool independently. A teacher will be in the pool with you for your class. You are considered an advanced swimmer if you are comfortable swimming across the deep end of the pool independently. A teacher will not be in the pool with you during your class.
Missed Class Policy
Make up classes are not guaranteed. If space is available, we will try our best to allow one make up class per session. At this time, we cannot offer make up classes for beginner swimmers in the Tuesday 6:45 and 7:45 adult classes.
Locker Rooms
EAC’s rules require that individuals over 6 years old use the appropriate locker room. In addition to the men’s and women’s locker rooms, EAC also offers a small unisex locker room without a shower.
